Macclesfield game moved
The home match against Macclesfield Town scheduled for Saturday 17 October has been switched to Friday 16 October at 7.45pm.
The reason is to avoid a direct clash with the race meeting at Prestbury Park on the Saturday afternoon. Although there is also racing on Friday the area around the racecourse should have cleared sufficiently for there to be little effect on football traffic or the matchday park and ride service.
The only other fixture clash with horse racing is scheduled for Saturday 30 January when Cheltenham Town are due to host Darlington at the Abbey Business Stadium. The match has not been moved at this moment in time but the club will consider putting in an application depending upon the success of the October 16 fixture.
No other changes to the fixture list are anticipated at this time.
The Gloucester Rugby Club fixtures were released today (June 24) and there are only five weekends when both Gloucester Rugby and Cheltenham Town are at home at the same time. The Guinness Premiership and Football League have historically been unable to avoid clashes between rugby and football teams in the same geographical area, although this season it could be that clashes are kept to a minimum. Unlike football, rugby fixtures are not announced for specific days with all three days of a weekend reserved for the playing of a fixture subject to television selections, ground-sharing and other considerations. The exact dates of the rugby fixtures will therefore not be confirmed for a couple of weeks.
