For many fans 'taking in a pie at the game' is all part and parcel of the match day experience, but for Tom Dickinson of Hertfordshire, it became a labour of love over the course of last season.

In fact the 'pie officiado' is hoping to publish a book about his culinary odyssey - '92 Pies!'.

Tom, 22, has now visited every Football League ground to sample the pies of all 72 clubs - as well as 19 of the 20 Premier League clubs.

He will complete his epicurean trek, on Saturday 16 May, when he takes in Bolton Wanderers against Hull City at the Reebok Stadium.

And it's good news for fans of the Robins ahead of next seasons League Two campaign. Because barring any late bid by the catering staff at the home of The Trotters, Tom's taste buds reckon the pie he had at Morecambe is the best to date.

Just a week ago, Tom appeared on BBC Breakfast Show to talk about his love for Morecambe FC pies, which are made and supplied by Pott's Pies in the town.

"It was a steak pie", enthused Tom, and came with mushy peas and gravy. It was a freezing night so it did the trick."

And, after show presenters Bill Turnbull and Kate Silverton munched on a Pott's Pie, they too gave it the thumbs up!

Tom carried out his research after saving £3,000 over last summer by gardening and giving guitar lessons.

He told viewers of the show, "I do like pies but I'm not obsessed. Some people travel the world after they leave university, but I did Grimsby and Walsall!"

"Some weeks I've had to go to six or seven games and by a Wednesday I'm sick of the sight of them..."

Sadly for League One side Walsall they finished bottom of Toms 'pie league'.
