Fans raise £3000 for local charities

Posted on: Wed 06 May 2009

Over £3,000 has been raised from ground collections at the Abbey Business Stadium during the 2008/2009 season.

Seven charities attended home matches and with thanks to the generosity of the fans, the charities have all been able to benefit. The charities include The Acorn Hospice; Gloucestershire Sea Cadets; Gloucestershire Association for the Blind; British Legion Poppy Appeal; Meningitis Research; Caudwell Children; and Cheltenham's Mayors Charities.

Paul Roberts, who coordinates the collections, said: "A big thank you goes to the Cheltenham Town Fans for their generosity. We like to make sure that we do not continually ask our fans to dig deep by limiting the number of ground collections each season, but when we do have a charity at the ground our fans have proved to be very supportive".
