Cheltenham Town manager Keith Downing interviewed before the Coca-Cola League One away match at Oldham Athletic:

"We've got one or two on the treatment table. Craig Armstrong and David Bird have knocks and Ben Gill is obviously suspended for this weekend so the midfield area is looking a bit thin. But Dean Sinclair has come in and we know what he is capable of from last season so he is a great addition to the squad. Dean has done most of his pre-season at Charlton, he is fit and well and looking to play some games, which was his reason for coming here. He will come straight into consideration for Saturday.

"We will wait on both Craig and David until the end of Friday to see whether they will be able to play but they are both doubtful. They got through the last couple of games with niggles but have suffered reactions. They have been brave in what they've done over the last couple of games but it's just caught up with them now.

"The whole place has been lifted by the three players we have brought in and by the results we've had. The wins over Southend and Swindon have given us a bit of confidence. We know we've got a big week coming up with some tough games but we're going into it with confidence from two good results and we're looking still to try and improve our away form.

"It would have been easy to panic over the last few weeks in terms of the transfer targets we have missed out on but we have stuck to our principles in terms of getting the right people and we feel that it's now materialising. As the season gets under way managers decide on their starting teams and one or two players get left without a game. That is why we have been able to sign Jennison, Barry and now Dean Sinclair. We are fully aware that we need them for longer but for the moment we have them for a month and have to settle for that. At the moment I'm still hoping that we can get at least one more in before the transfer deadline if we can.

"I've really tried to strengthen the squad from last year and made a conscious effort to bring in some knowledgeable players who have done this level. That is not to say that we cannot bring in young players like Marley Watkins and Ben Gill but certainly if you have got that knowledge of having played at this level it helps a great deal.

"Oldham have a very strong forward line and also strength in depth on the bench as well. It will be a tough game but I'm going there with a positive frame of mind and that is what we are trying to get across to the players: that we believe we belong in this league and believe we can get a result. Confidence levels are a big part of the game and we have built on that in the last two matches."
