Vincent signs new deal
Cheltenham Town striker or wide player Ashley Vincent signed a new one year contract before tonight's pre-season friendly against Bristol City at Whaddon Road.
Vincent becomes the last of the players offered new deals over the summer to put pen to paper having been the subject of interest from other clubs over the last few weeks.
The former Wolves trainee has elected to stay with the Robins and was due to start up front alongside Paul Connor in the Bristol City match.
"The offer to Ashley has been there all summer and I'm pleased that he has decided to stay," said manager Keith Downing.
"The only real issue was that Ashley sees his future as a striker and it was up to him to decide whether he wanted to make a go of that with us."
Vincent has tended to play out wide in his previous four seasons with the club but the 23-year old has been given a chance as a central striker during the pre-season programme and scored in the 2-1 win at Hinckley United earlier this month.
STOP PRESS: Vincent added his second goal of the pre-season period to put the Robins 1-0 up against Bristol City at Whaddon Road tonight.
