The Cheltenham Town youth team have defeated Bristol Rovers this afternoon.
The youth team ran out 2-1 winners in their Youth Alliance fixtures versus Bristol Rovers this afternoon.Russell Milton and his young Robins travelled to Bristol this afternoon aiming to build upon a 4-0 win over Swindon last week and they pulled no punches in a solid win over Rovers.
Bobbie Dale rounded the goalkeeper to make it 1-0 before first year scholar Jamal Lawrence doubled the lead after Rovers had just hit the post. The second half became a tougher affair and Rovers' U18s did pull a goal back but the young Robins who harshly called offside on a number of chances and the game could have been won by a larger scoreline.
Three points were key however and Russell Milton expressed his delight at the hard fought win.
"It was pleasing today because we have had a number of changes," said Russ.
"We had four players out (on work experience) but the front four of Jamal Lawrence, Bobbie Dale, Harry Williams and Zack Kotwica were a different class and Rovers struggled to live with them at times. We had a few chances written off wrongly for offside in the second half but it was a tough game as it always is versus Rovers. It is a good win for us."
