Yates: Devastated

5 February 2013

Mark Yates felt like the "most dejected man in the world" after Bristol Rovers' equaliser.

Robins chief Mark Yates speaks to the media following tonight's 1-1 draw against Bristol Rovers:

"They played well I thought, credit to them they played really well. They made it difficult for us, worked hard, showed their spirit but that game was won. For me, it went over the four minutes. We're shouting it's over four minutes gone but it's poor defending from us. Everyone was behind the ball and he's hit it from 35-yards. It's not good.

"I feel for the boys. I feel for the supporters. I'm pretty devastated but I'm lost for words.

"They deserve a point to be fair to them, I thought they did well but they probably shouldn't have got it. Our keeper's made one save and we haven't done enough but that's credit to them.

"For their goal, We've got 11 men behind the ball in the 95th minute and he's put the ball in the top corner. It's disappointing.

"Scott Brown's not had to make many saves but we've not forced their's into enough either. They've had a couple first half and a couple the second but we've not test them enough. We shoul have won the game, we should have seen it out, I'm just disappointed. They've made it really tough for us, they started really strongly but they didn't create many chances. I think we can take massive heart from that. I thought we did alright but it's not as good as we were Saturday. Like I said before, credit to them for that."

Marlon Pack rejoined the squad for tonight's game after his proposed move to Swindon Town fell through.

"I wasn't going to change the team and the substitutions were like for like with a slight change of formation. Marlon is ours until anyone tells me any different. He was on the bench, he would have been my sub keeper if I needed him because Connor is away with the Welsh u21's. He's part of us and part of the group.

"Billy Jones should be fit for Saturday. I thought he could have played today and could've started but I thought the whole team did enough on Saturday to warrant keeping the same team.

"Right now I must feel the most dejected man in the world considering the 94th minute but this could be a good point. We should have had 3 points from the position we were in but we havn't. We have to pick ourselves up for Dagenham now on Saturday."
