Yates: I See Some Light

3 September 2013

Mark Yates was disappointed to conceded three but believes there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Manager Mark Yates speaking to the media following tonight's penalty defeat in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy:

"We responded really and our season has finally started today. The Burton first half and the Crawley game were decent but apart from that we haven't been. The goals we have conceded tonight have been poor and unacceptable. We kept 20 clean sheets last season through hard work and working as a team but we're not doing that enough.

"The boys are really low but we have played some good football at times and there were positives. There's a bit about them in the changing room tonight. They are disappointed but they know they have done alright and, on another night, we could have won.

"It was a good spirit to get ourselves back into the game but we shouldn't have put ourselves in that position. We have to address things and we cannot keep shooting ourselves in the foot by conceding goals. We responded in the right manner and I though Zack Kotwica was a real threat but he got tired in the final 15 minutes. David Noble came on and showed us what he can do and he will be a big part of us getting back to what we are about.

"I thin Steve Elliott and Matt Richards will be okay for Saturday.

"There are positives. I'm alright tonight and I see a bit of light and the players do too. They realise we have let ourselves down over the start we have had. We are disappointed to lose tonight but we can build on that for Saturday."
