Mark Yates disappointed to leave Home Park without a win but pleased with the performance.
Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates speaking to the press following this afternoon's 1-1 draw away at Plymouth:"I thought we played some really good football in the second half. I watched the first half from the stands and to be honest I wouldn't have wanted to pay to watch that from both sides. We stopped them from playing and we did a good job on them. I wanted more from my team in the second half. I wanted more enthusiasm, drive and craft and I thought we got that right from kick off. We're a bit disappointed but on the back of a few defeats it was a much improved performance from last Saturday.
"We have worked hard and if we do that then we have a chance because we have got good players and we saw that in the second half. I thought Craig Braham-Barrett was excellent and a real attacking threat from left back. Kemar (Roofe) was very good and Michael (Ihiekwe) making his league debut was superb after a shaky couple of minutes to start with. There were plenty more positives than last week and a much better performance. Hopefully we can keep putting them in between now and the end of the season.
"We brought Michael in to be involved and he was decent today. Stevie (Elliott) can consider himself a little unlucky because Troy (Brown) didn't have the best of games last week but I went for a bit more pace back there and I thought Michael was decent. First half was pretty mundane in the swirling wind and I was freezing cold but I thought we were excellent in the second half and a little unlucky not to seal three points.
"I'm pleased with Byron (Harrison). He has a bit of everything and I think we have seen that but we've got to keep demanding and asking more of him. We've got to keep doing what tickles him if you like because he's a good player and I thought that he, Jamie and Kemar were a real threat particularly in the second half.
"We came into it a bit more ten minutes from half time and deservedly took the lead, could have had a couple more perhaps but we didn't and that is football sometimes. By not taking those chances it has cost us a couple of points but that's not anything to worry about. I thought Matt (Richards) was a bit unlucky to concede the foul in the first place and then it was a quality strike. Unfortunately it stopped us getting the three points.
"I wouldn't get too excited about it (the transfer window). I'm happy with the group I have got. I need bits and pieces but it's probably going to be loans and I don't see any permanents coming in. I have a little bit of money to use and we need reinforcements but it doesn't mean we'll get them this week. The window is only shut for a week and then the loan window opens so I'm not going to make any knee-jerk reactions. If something happens then we will deal with it our end. I've got a couple but I'm not desperate. I've got a good eleven but we're not winning enough games to make it a really good eleven. We will keep persevering but we don't need to make any stupid signings because we don't have money to waste. If I can do something that is right for us then I will do it but I won't be chasing stuff like some managers can do."
