Yates: A Decent Performance

23 November 2013

Mark Yates was optimistic after his side was held to a draw at the Abbey Business Stadium.

Robins chief Mark Yates speaking to the press following this afternoon's goalless draw against Newport County:

"It was a decent perfromance, it was a decent game of football. They've had one chance and hit the post but I think we've limited them. We just couldn't quite find our killer touch. We couldn't find our enterprise in the final third. We didn't work their keeper enough.

"But, we've kept a clean sheet. We're five games unbeaten. We will have to go into Tuesday and do all the things we did today, but just be better.

"In the first half, I think we struggled to get the extra pass in there that we wanted but they didn't hurt us.

"In the second half I thought we were more expansive. We had more about about us but unfortunately we didn't create as many chances as we would have liked.

"The draw is probably the right result but there are lots of positives there. They're a good side, a strong powerful side who can utilise long balls that we had to deal with. I felt we dealt with everything they threw at us.

"We've set ourselves a target of clean sheets and we've achieved another one today. They hit the post but apart from that we were pretty good.

"I think we need a couple more players in, ideally before Tuesday. I would like to add to my squad. I want players to give us a boost, and a few more will probably get us through to the new year.

"I'm not expecting anyone to go. We can't have any less than we've got. If someone does go, it will be if I can get someone else in to add to my squad.

"Our unbeaten run is good for confidence. We've been low on confidence because we've conceded goals and lost games. We're five unbeaten, we haven't got many points on the board but I think the home supporters have seen the effort and the commitment of everybody."
