Yates: Big Three Points

20 April 2013

Mark Yates proud of the performance, result and the travelling supporters.

Robins chief Mark Yates speaking to the media following this afternoon's 1-0 win at Exeter:

"We started really well for the first 15 minutes and then we were a little too open and Exeter were throwing caution to the wind to win. They had some good chances but not too many clear-cut ones. We tweaked things a little in the second half and we were a little more organised and compact. Apart from a few shots at the end, all of their efforts were from the edge of the box.

"We were in control of the game although we didn't have the ball much and we got what we needed but we did want to get the second. We could have been a bit better with the ball but we did well against a good side and good players. It was a really professional job and the boys have done what was asked of them and that was take it to next Saturday. It was a big three points.

"If we don't get what we want next week then we'll be allowed a minute of disappointment and then we'll be focussed fully on the play-offs. It was a fantastic win today and it was great support from the fanbase who travelled today. We'll now re-group and prepare for a big one next week.

"I told Russ (Penn) that I thought he might score today and that's why he has come over and given me a little high-five. I thought he was outstanding today and he was a real driving force for us.

"The lads showed their appreciation (to the fans) at the end because they were superb and that's what we need. Hopefully we have a big crowd at home to Bradford next weekend. You never know what's around the corner. Aldershot have something to play for now which we're obviously happy with but we can only take care of ourselves. Bradford, for me, are probably the best team we have played this season so we know how tough it'll be.

"We can only look after our own results. We have to make sure we win and hope that results go our way."
