Mark Yates was pleased with his sides attitude, energy and tempo against Dagenham & Redbridge.
Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates discusses this afternoon's 1-1 draw against Dagenham & Redbridge:Video reaction to come shortly.
"I'm please for the team and the supporters, that they stuck with us and we managed to get that goal. We didn't want to talk about not scoring, we've had numerous chances today.
"John Marquis looked a real threat every time he got in the box, we've hit the bar twice and their keeper's made some good saves. It's frustrating that they scored the goal the way they did, but we knew that was what they were planning. They planned to sit and defend but the tempo we played and started with was key. How we were for the first and last 25 minutes. That's what's going to win us games.
"Steve Elliott isn't quite fit and I wanted to get another body up top. It obviously didn't work as well as I would have wanted but there were some good bits and I'm just delighted we managed to get something out of it. It's the least we deserved, but the goal we conceded was disappointing. We know what Jamie (Cureton) is like and it looked like it was going to settle the game but credit to the lads, the subs came on and made an impact. We kept plugging away, we didn't lose spirit. A point's better than getting beat so we can dust ourselves down and go again next Saturday.
"It's psychologically very important, when we've been good in games the one thing we've had is energy and tempo. We're not waiting for that goal, but someone's got to go and make it happen. We can't become fearful of it and the lads showed at the end that we get chances, we have people that have the desire to score and people won't be able to live with us. The attitude in the squad is really pleasing but we're just a little bit disappointed we only got a point out of the game."
