Yates: Efficient and Effective

27 July 2013

Mark Yates is pleased with his team's performance, holding visitors Cardiff City to a draw.

Robins manager Mark Yates speaking to the media following a 1-1 draw against Cardiff City:

"The work out was good. We could have been beaten 5-1. I wanted the effort, we worked on a few things. We've had a little bit of an edge in terms of games that we've played but I'm really pleased. There were lots of positives. There's still loads to work on, just because we put in a decent performance today, doesn't mean anything.

"It's been a decent pre-season so far, we finish it off on Tuesday against Kidderminster and we can start thinking about Burton after that.

"You always want to be winning games. The pleasing thing is, we've got some good players, we've played three different systems and I've got players than can adapt. They've shown me that. Fitness levels are decent.

"Quite a few of them got 90 minutes under their belt today. That can be massive psychologically.  Everyone else who needs 90 minutes will play on Tuesday night.

"We had to work extremely hard today, both with and without the ball. Against better opposition, you can work your socks off and be hopeless in possession because you've worked to hard. We worked efficiently and effectively. In possession at times, we were really, really good."
