Mark Yates believes his players were not mentally strong enough to hold onto the lead here today.
Robins manager Mark Yates speaking to the media following this afternoon's 2-1 loss away at Burton Albion:"We are disappointed. They (Burton) have shown what a decent side they are but I think we have shown that we are too. It was a tight and even first half with both teams having a couple of good chances with some good saves off the goalkeepers. We scored and started to frustrate them but then they brought on some fresh legs and changed it so credit to them for that. We have given the ball away at the corner flag from our throw in and they have scored from it. Needlessly my full back has given a nothing ball away and they've scored again. It's disappointing because we deserved something out of the game but sometimes that's just the way it goes for you and we need to get back to playing the way we did for 65-70 minutes and if we can do that then we'll be alright.
"I thought the first half was pretty even but I felt we played without our front two really because they were both very quiet although they had a chance each. They were better in the second half but it's frustrating to have lost. They were a little better but we still felt we could create chances. I thought Jason Taylor and Matt Richards were outstanding again for us so it is a strange feeling to have lost that game. They are a good side but I felt most of what we had to deal with was in front of us and we dealt with it well. Unfortunately we were not mentally strong enough to see the game out at 1-0.
"I think if you're mentally strong then you win that game but we're not quite there yet with one or two. Burton are a good side and Billy Kee was instrumental and I thought he was a real thorn in our side today but we dealt with most of what they had to do. Credit to them because they've won the game.
"I don't think Byron (Harrison) had his best game but he scored and hopefully that can give him a little boost for the rest of the season.
"We are a little bit thin but I have players who are all decent and we're not desperate. I would like some reinforcements to give us as boost and I think they will come but I'm happy with what we have got. We had no David Noble today and we have got Michael (Ihiekwe) coming from Wolves to help us along the next month. You don't have to bring people in January but, having said that, if the right one comes along that we think will suit us and improve us then we'll do that."
