Yates: All Set To Go

23 August 2012

The Robins are ready and raring to go against Aldershot this weekend.

Mark Yates speaking to the media ahead of this weekend's game at Aldershot Town:

"I've been after another midfield player for more competition and a bit of patience has paid off. Darren Carter has never played at this level before because he has been higher. He was injured last season but he's fully fit and he has been training with Birmingham pre-season. We are delighted to have signed him up until January. He is a local lad and that has helped but he is desperate to get back to playing football and we are happy to have brought a player in of his quality. It's another good footballer. He used to be a real box to box energetic player but he has adapted and he can do everything. It has taken us a little time because other clubs were vying for his signature but he will fit in perfectly with our midfield.

"It suited all parties that he signed for 6 months. He wants to get back playing as quickly as he can.

"The second half on Tuesday was perhaps a bit to open but I've looked back on the game and we were excellent. There were a couple of things that we need address but they are a good side and something it'll take time. The attitude to get back into the game was thee to see and so was the quality. Some of the players had superb games and it was a really good point having been a goal behind.

"Jermaine (McGlashan) gets stick but I think that's only because they know he is a very good player. I don't think he'll get a bad reception at Aldershot because the fans like him down there and it was just the right time for him to move on. He has had stick from opposition fans because he is such a good player and he is a threat. Fnas try to put players like Jermaine off but he's proved once again that it won't happen. He was outstanding.

"Hopefully Alan Bennett will train because it has been a week now but Harry Hooman has been outstanding and he won't make it easy for him.

"Aldershot are a big strong side and there is no doubt that we'll be having balls sent into our box. They work extremely hard and they will put us under a lot of pressure but we'll need to be strong and stand up to it. We need to defend better than we did the other night but we can do that and we will be looking to play our own game."
