Connor Represents Wales

6 March 2014

Robins goalkeeper Connor Roberts played 90 minutes for the Welsh U21 side at Pride Park.

Cheltenham Town's Connor Roberts played 90 minutes out on international duty with Wales last night.

The 21 year-old goalkeeper was selected for the Welsh U21 side by manager Geraint Williams to face a strong England U21 side which included another former Robin, Jack Butland, who enjoyed two loan spells with Cheltenham Town back in the 2011-12 season.

Wales lost the game 1-0 after Nathan Redmond's 56th minute strike won the game at Derby County's Pride Park stadium. Connor was left frustrated but proud following the game and sent a message out to his Twitter followers a few hours after full time.

"Thank you for all the messages, disappointed to be in the losing side! Look forward to the next one." (source: @CRobbo_92 on Twitter)

England's victory takes them six points clear in Qualifying Group 1 for the 2015 UEFA European U21 Football Championships with Connor and Wales sat in 3rd behind Moldova in second with three matches left to play.

Another former Robins loanee, Lee Lucas, also played a part for the Wales U21 side. Connor Roberts will now link back up with his team-mates and train tomorrow ahead of our away game in Sky Bet League Two versus Portsmouth.

Connor's next international match will be against England once again on Wednesday 13 August 2014.
