VIDEO: Goalkeeper Rhys Lovett signs and is set for loan move

3 August 2015

Signed number 14 completed

Rhys Lovett has signed for Cheltenham Town and an immediate loan move is under discussion for the young goalkeeper to build his experience.

He spent seven years at Walsall before being loaned to Aston Villa for an FA Youth Cup tie and also spending time on loan with Coventry City.

He then moved to Rochdale for the second year of his scholarship, playing regularly for their Under-18s last season.

After his release from the League One club this summer, Dale's goalkeeping coach Steve Collis put him in touch with Robins boss Gary Johnson and he linked up with Cheltenham from the start of pre-season.

Johnson has earmarked him as one for the future and he will go out to play regular football, with Dillon Phillips set to start as number one with Calum Kitscha his understudy.

Lovett, who has appeared for Gloucester City and Hereford on trial earlier in the summer, is Cheltenham's 14th new signing this season.

* The new Vanarama National League season kicks off at Lincoln City on Saturday.
