Kane Ferdinand joins Robins on loan for two months

20 November 2014

Peterborough United midfielder Kane Ferdinand has agreed to join Cheltenham Town in a two month loan deal.

The 22-year-old will go straight in Mark Yates’ squad for the home match against Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday.

"I've finally got him having asked plenty of times," Yates said. "He is a goal threat, he can play in a few different positions and he is a good size.

"He has played in the Championship and he is hungry to play games and help us out, so I am really delighted to bring him in.

"He did well at Southend, scored goals and gone to Peterborough and been a regular at times, so he'll be a good player for us."

Ferdinand joined Peterborough from Southend United on a four-year deal in August 2012 for a fee that could reach £500,000.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has since spent time out on loan at Northampton Town and Luton Town.

He is the cousin of Rio and Anton Ferdinand and former England star Les Ferdinand.

Ferdinand scored the opening goal against Cheltenham in Southend's 4-0 victory in March 2012.
