Noble Loaned In

2 September 2013

Rotherham midfielder David Noble has today joined Cheltenham Town on loan until January.

Cheltenham Town have today signed David Noble on loan from Rotherham United.

David, 31, joins this afternoon on transfer deadline day and his loan spell will see him through until January. The former Bristol City and West Ham midfielder will be available to play the Robins tomorrow evening at home to Plymouth Argyle in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

"We're missing something at the minute," said Mark.

"We feel that David has the ability to grab hold of the game with his ability on the ball and his passing. He demands the ball and he's an obvious candidate. I'd like to thank Steve Evans for helping us get this deal done."

David Noble started his football career as an Arsenal trainee and he became an integral part of the side that won the FA Youth Cup in 2000. His first senior appearance came whilst on loan with Watford under Gianluca Vialli but he soon made a permanent move to West Ham United. He spent one season with the Hammers before departing due to a lack of first team chances and he linked up with Boston United where he spent the next two seasons.

He made well over 50 appearances for Boston before moving onto Ashton Gate with Bristol City paying a reported £80,000. Noble had enjoyed an initial loan spell with the club in the 2005-06 campaign and he stayed with the club until 2009. He made 95 appearances for Bristol City and scored 9 goals but he also enjoyed a loan spell with Yeovil Town in 2009.

David was released in May 2009 and linked up with Exeter City in January 2010. He was handed a new one year contract in June 2011 but he was released when Exeter were relegated from League One. He had made 88 appearances for the Grecians but he was soon snapped up by Rotherham United and he went on to enjoy promotion with the Millers last season.
