Big Changes For CTLFC

18 November 2013

Cheltenham Town Ladies' Jo Lenton gives us an update on all things CTLFC.

It’s been a while since our last blog and there have been a few changes around the place!

Ian Hutton has moved on to work with the men’s team which is a great opportunity for him to do what he loves best.  Ian made a huge impact on the club and left us in fine shape so we wish him well in the future.  On the back of this there are a number of new faces at the club.  Andy Trout and Mark Hardcastle have joined the first team set up from Longlevens Ladies FC.  Both have management and coaching experience in the women’s game and are keen to stamp their mark on the team.

The Development team also have a new manager in the shape of Ben Hyett.  He has taken over the reigns from Andy Liddle, the club Chairman who stepped in to run the team until a permanent manager was found.  Under Andy’s guidance the squad have made a strong start to life in Gloucestershire County Women’s league 2 and continue to improve under Ben’s watchful eye.

The first team sit 6th in the South West Women’s Premier league table with 12 points but have 5 games in hand on the leaders.  This is mainly down to involvement in the Cup competitions, competing in both the County Cup and the FA Cup preliminary rounds.  Last week saw an FA Cup game against Swindon Spitfires for a place in the 1st round proper but unfortunately Swindon came out on top 3-2 winners.

Back in the County league the Development squad are currently in joint 2nd place with a game in hand on leaders Mitchledean.  This Sunday the girls travel to Southmead in the County Trophy Cup in a bid to reach the semi-finals and push on towards an ambitious double this season.

Off the pitch a brand new kit has just been delivered and we’re currently on the look out for sponsors to adorn it!  We have a number of sponsorship packages available ranging from full kit sponsorship to match balls and individual player sponsorship.  If you are keen to get involved or would like some further information then please contact our Chairman Andy Liddle on 07900 808067.  Our sponsors will enjoy coverage in the Gloucestershire Echo every week as well as promotion via Twitter and our new website.

Over the next few weeks both teams will look to inch up those league tables and continue the good form that has been shown already.  The new management are keen to get stuck in and all the players are showing real commitment to the CTLFC cause which is great to see.  Hopefully we will secure a long term sponsorship partner enabling is to keep moving towards the next level and really cement our status as the best women’s football club to be involved with in the area!
