"There was a little scare early on and Browny has made an excellent save five minutes in or so but after that we have controlled the game. Whether Morecambe had 10 or 11 on the pitch - we generally felt comfortable throughout.

"The goals have come at good times and thankfully tonight we haven't conceded at poor times. That has been the story certainly in the spell that I've been at the club because over the last 6 weeks we have just conceded poor goals and we were scratching our heads at times at how to eliminate those mistakes.

"We felt it was a freekick and Matty (Richards)  practices those regularly at the training ground and he just puts them in that good area so it's alluded everyone and found it's way into the back of the net thankfully.

"I think Mark (Yates) deserves a lot of credit because a lot of managers wouldn't change anything and they would stick with it stubbornly but week in and week out we have tried to come up with something that might make the difference. Tonight Mark has found the answer because we've had that extra pass, retained the ball better and we have played with more freedom. The gaffer deserves great credit for that.

"Terry (Gornell) worked his socks off tonight and he was a breath of fresh air because he looked hungry. Sam Deering has been bright in training and we told him that if he transferred that over to a Saturday or Tuesday night then he can have an impact for us and he certainly did that tonight. Dave (Noble) did what he does best by retaining the ball for us. We felt Jamie (Cureton) had done his work and put his shift in and was fantastic. With Byron we felt that there were goal there and sure enough he's got himself another goal.

"We passed the ball throughout with a bit of purpose as well as retaining it but we didn't take liberties with the ball which was important. The clean sheet is important and not only have we been stressing that to the back four but to the rest of the team too because all 11 of us are responsible for maintaining the clean sheet. Ourselves as a staff, and certainly the manager, will be delighted with the clean sheet.

"The league table doesn't lie but we hope that we can get that little bit of consistency we need to pull performances and results together. We now have a very difficult game on Saturday but straight away that is our focus. We've enjoyed tonight and we are delighted with the three points but Saturday is important and we've got to go again and maintain the levels of performance we had tonight."
