"We just tried being positive at half time to be honest. Although we weren't playing well, they weren't doing that deliberately so we thought we would be positive with them and to try and get them to work hard and increase the tempo. We looked like we were playing with a little bit of fear and the two systems were cancelling each other out. It wasn't a great game to watch if I'm being honest but you do get games like that and it's important to pick points up when you perhaps haven't played as well. Ten out of ten for character and effort in the second half but obviously we would like to be playing better.

"We aren't playing as well as we have done over the past few seasons and I know it wasn't great to watch but we could have been 2-0 up because we had some great chances. We were playing a team fighting for their lives, working for their manager and it was difficult but we got there in the end.

"There has been a couple of tough away games at Portsmouth and Oxford and Byron (Harrison) has put in a great shift during those two games. He took a whack on his back and he was looking to play 45 minutes if I was to be honest but he is a presence up there and a talented lad with lots of good physical attributes. He certainly helped the team performance in the second half.

"Matt (Richards) did well. He has got a great left foot and he is a good player but he has perhaps been quietly ticking over this season and he is as good as anyone in the team. I don't think today was his greatest game, like the other lads, but when it mattered he was in the right place and the use of his left foot came off well.

"Again we have had a couple of tough away games and it's not just the natural physicality of the game but it's the travelling as well. People might think that they should handle that as footballers but it is a squad game. Michael (Ihiekwe) has been excellent and he has been playing a lot of first team games which he has never done before but we've got young Mitch (Brundle) who has been doing everything he can to get back into the team and he has been doing well in training. It was just a way of freshening things up and it is good to be able to do that.

"That mad seven minutes against Chesterfield still hurts and it gets us angry but, apart from that, I think we have been doing okay. We have been picking points up, getting clean sheets and the odd win. It's nice to be looking towards the top end of the table.

"It has been a difficult season and it's obviously not what we were aiming for at the start of the season but we aren't even looking at the play-offs. We are looking forward to Tuesday night and hopefully getting another three points. If we can keep doing that over the next few weeks then we might see where we are with six or seven games to go. It's certainly nice to get three points today but now we have a chance to get three more on Tuesday."
