Howarth: Not Enough Quality

23 February 2013

Neil Howarth believes more quality was needed at the Crown Ground this afternoon.

Robins assistant manager Neil Howarth speaking to the media following this afternoon's 2-2 draw with Accrington:

"It's always the same when you come to places like this against an Accrington side fighting for survival. You can tell the effort they were putting in today but we can't help but feel a little disappointed that we haven't shown enough quality to win the game.

"You always have to do the ugly side of the game first before your quality can be given the chance to get on top but it was a real battle and we could have and should have shown more quality.

"We can't begrudge them a draw and we started to play our best stuff when we went 2-1 behind. They probably had the better chances in the first half and a draw is probably the right result but it would have been nice to have nicked it in our good spell towards the end although our overall performance probably didn't deserve it.

"James Beattie certainly had the quality to play at the top level and he's shown that today but we should be defending our set pieces and that is another thing we are bitterly disappointed with. We should be organised enough to defend the goals today. We have a good record of scoring from set pieces ourselves this season and it was a really good header from Marlon. It would have been nice to have gone on and scored a third but it wasn't to be."
