Harrad Joins Robins

3 August 2012

Bury striker Shaun Harrad has linked up with the Robins on a season long loan

Bury striker Shaun Harrad has today joined Cheltenham Town on a season long loan deal.

Harrad, 27, is looking for first team this football this season and Mark Yates was quick to confirm a deal for the goal scorer ahead of the new campaign.

"Sometimes things turn for you and we have been patient," said Mark.

"Shaun has been on our radar for a very long time but we didn't think we could get him. We did enquire about him last year when he went back from Rotherham but it all came from a chance conversation with one of my staff and Bury have been brilliant.

"Shaun wants to be here for the season and be part of what we want to do and it was a no brainer once we realised we could get him.

Shaun started his career at Notts County before enjoying loan spells at Gresley Rovers and Tamworth.  Burton Albion were the next club to acquire his services in 2005 and he gained promotion to the football league with the Brewers in 2009, scoring 16 goals in their promotion season.

He finished the 09/10 season as the clubs top scorer with 21 goals, including a hat trick against Rotherham United in September 2010 before joining the Cobblers earlier this year.  Shaun also scored both goals for Northampton against Bury in April 2011 at Sixfields, though unfortunately for the Cobblers, the Shakers put four in the opposite end.  A quick and energetic goal scorer and a player that grasps every opportunity possible when in front of goal.

Shaun’s first season at Gigg Lane was a frustrating one, with several appearances coming mainly from the bench.  Shaun also had a spell out on loan at League Two Rotherham United, where he quickly found the back of the net after a lengthy barren spell.  After eight appearances and three goals, Shaun returned to Gigg Lane where his goal scoring abilities were seen by all and he managed to find the back of the net wearing a shakers shirt for the first time.

Harrad arrived at the training ground earlier today to meet the backroom staff and finalise his move from Gigg Lane.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be here," said Shaun.

"I've been in training this morning and the lads have made me feel very welcome. It's all happened really quickly but I'm looking forward to proving myself and getting myself back to my best."

You can catch the full interview with Shaun later today here on www.ctfc.com and Robins Player.
