Cheltenham Town FC

 

Following amicable discussions between representatives of the two clubs, Cheltenham Town Chairman Paul Baker and Gloucester City Chairman Stuart Pike shook hands on the new deal at Gloucester City's home match with Histon on Tuesday evening.

 

The arrangement has worked very well for both clubs and negotiations were very positive and had proven to be a good deal for both. Whilst some fans may have concerns over the condition of the Abbey Business Stadium pitch there is no doubt that the awful weather has been the main contributor this season. The pitch will once again undergo major renovation in the close season.

 

Commenting on the agreement Paul Baker said:

 

"I am delighted to have agreed an extension for a further season. It makes very good business sense for the club to maximise its assets in this way and despite the additional wear and tear the extra revenue generated is very welcome indeed. 

"The relationship between the two clubs has never been better and I am pleased that we have been able to work together for our mutual benefit."

Stuart Pike, chairman of Gloucester City FC, said: 

"I wish to put on record a big thank you to Paul Baker and Cheltenham Town Football Club for their assistance as we agreed an extension to the ground share agreement for the 2014/15 Season. 

"With this agreement signed and in place, Gloucester City can move forward and concentrate on the rest of this season and feel confident we have a home at the Abbey Business Stadium for the 2014/15 season. The positive relationship between our two Gloucestershire clubs has shown that football is the winner here and both clubs will benefit from this agreement."

The one year extension to the groundshare agreement will take Gloucester City's stay here into a fifth season as they progress with plans to return home to Meadow Park.

Gloucester City, managed by Tim Harris, currently sit 20th in the Conference North division.
