Eusebio joins Cheltenham
Forward Eusebio Bancessi will join Cheltenham Town from Wolverhampton Wanderers on an initial month's loan, subject to paperwork being completed on Friday.The 19-year-old Portuguese joined Wolves from Benfica in 2013 and is yet to make his first team debut at Molineux.
He will go straight into the Robins' squad to face Shrewsbury Town at the New Meadow on Saturday and boss Mark Yates said he was pleased to finally capture his man after a couple of unsuccessful previous attempts.
"I have been after Eusebio for a while and I tried early in the season and again straight after Koby Arthur went back to Birmingham City," Yates said. "When we played Wolves in a training ground friendly, he scored and I spoke to Kenny Jackett and his staff about him.
"I am delighted to bring him here and I'd like to thank Wolves for allowing it to happen because there was a lot of interest from League One and Two clubs.
"He has lightning pace, a real eye for goal and he can make a really positive impact in our squad."
Bancessi enjoyed an impressive first season at Under-21 level, and then travelled with the first team for this summer’s pre-season tour of Ireland.
He came off the bench briefly in the game at Shamrock Rovers, and then made his first senior start in the friendly win at Oxford. He has again started the season well in the Under-21 league, scoring this excellent goal against Newcastle at St James’s Park.
Meanwhile, striker Terry Gornell has asked to be placed on the transfer list and Cheltenham have so far received interest from one club, but the player has rejected the move.
Gornell scored his first goal for a nearly a year in Wednesday night's Johnstone's Paint Trophy second round defeat by Bristol City.
Yates said: "Terry wants to go on the list, so we'll see what happens, but I don't have any problems with him. I am glad he's finally got his goal and he just wants to be playing.
"He is a great lad and no bother around the place, but I understand why he wants to go out and play because it's not quite happened for him here.
"At this moment in time, maybe it will take a change of scenery to spark something and maybe he can come back here and do well again."
Young midfielder Harry Williams has extended his loan spell at Evesham United to a second month, while striker Bobbie Dale is set to join Cirencester Town for a month having recently returned from Bath City.
"I want Harry to keep getting games and I know Paul Collicutt (Evesham manager) has been very pleased with him," Yates said.
"He can get some more game time in the next month and it allows us to have him around for FA Cup should we need him because has hasn't played in it for Evesham.
"Bobbie has been superb with his attitude and I want him to play games and score goals. He's taken a step back in terms of the level he'll be at, but he hasn't personally and he will be going there firing on all cylinders. It's all part of their development."
