Steve Elliott Offered Coaching Role

6 May 2014

Club captain Steve Elliott will mull over a new contract offer which could see him join the backroom staff.

Steve Elliott has been offered a player/coach role here at Cheltenham Town following a meeting with Mark Yates earlier today.

Steve, 35, is the current club captain here at Cheltenham Town and, with his contract up this summer, manager Mark Yates moved quickly to offer the former Derby and Bristol Rovers defender a contract which would keep him at the club whilst offering him a stepping stone into coaching.

The powerful defender recently passed his UEFA 'B' coaching qualification and he has been offered a role as part of the club's backroom staff whilst extending his playing career.

The club's management team is currently being re-structured with the departure of Neil Howarth and Elliott will now ponder on his future here at Cheltenham Town.

Steve joined the club back in the summer of 2010 following his surprising release from Bristol Rovers. Since his arrival he has made 175 appearances and scored 8 goals whilst becoming an integral figure behind the scenes both on and off the pitch.
