Connor Roberts Released From Cheltenham Town

13 May 2014

Welsh U21 goalkeeper Connor Roberts has been released by Mark Yates this afternoon.

Goalkeeper Connor Roberts has today been released by Cheltenham Town FC.

Connor met with manager Mark Yates earlier today and was told that he would not be offered a new contract here at Whaddon Road and Mark has thanked the young goalkeeper for his efforts over the past two seasons.

"Connor is a good goalkeeper but I felt it was the decision," said Mark.

"He is a good professional and his achievements with the Wales U21 squad have been good for his career but I spoke with Connor earlier and I want to thank him for his efforts during his time with the club. We all wish him the very best for the next step in his career."

Connor, 21, is a Wales U21 goalkeeper and was signed by Mark Yates following his release from Everton back in 2012. Connor made just one appearance for the club on the final day of the 2013-14 season in the 3-2 loss at home to Dagenham & Redbridge.

His release completes the retained list in which Sido Jombati, Sam Deering, Ed Williams, Ashley Vincent and Jamie Cureton have also left the club. Contracts were offered to Scott Brown, Jermaine McGlashan and Steve Elliott with the latter agreeing terms earlier this week.

On behalf of Cheltenham Town Football Club we would like to thank Connor for his hard work both on and off the pitch over the past two seasons.
