Youth Report: Cheltenham 6-0 Clevedon Town

7 October 2015

U18s into final qualifying round

Cheltenham Town's youth team progressed into the third qualifying round of the FA Youth Cup last night with a 6-0 win over Clevedon Town at Bishop's Cleeve.

The Under-18s have now scored 29 goals in their three FA Youth Cup matches to date and will now face Gosport Borough at home in the third and final qualifier later this month.

The youth team took an early lead in last night's game when Joe Hance took advantage of a mix-up in the visiting defence to score an opportunist goal. Midfielder Josh Thomas doubled the lead before half-time when Jordan Lymn supplied him with a pass leaving only the goalkeeper to beat.

Cheltenham took further control after the break and defender Matt Bower scored after Lewis Thompson had cut the ball back from wide.

Luke Thomas scored the fourth from a cross by left-back Cameron Pring and Alex Dinsmore moved in from a wide position to score the fifth with a low finish.

Lymn got the final goal on the counter-attack with a strong run and good finish.

CHELTENHAM TOWN: Tetek; Lymn, Bower, Cordell, Pring; Nutting, J.Thomas (McCarthy 46); Hance, Chambers (Thompson 60), L.Thomas (Dinsmore 75); Ellicott. Other sub: Mendes
