What has been the best moment of your career so far?
It has to be the 2009 League One play-off final for Scunthorpe United against Millwall, when we won 3-2 after being 2-1 down. It was a great occasion and to top it all off I scored the first and second goals for us. It was a fantastic day for the club and all the supporters. I’d been to Wembley twice before and lost so it made it third time lucky. I played there in the Youth Alliance final against West Brom and lost on penalties and then again in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, when we lost to Luton Town.Â
What’s been the lowest point of your career so far?
Probably having one relegation on my CV. At Scunthorpe we reached the Championship the first time and the squad we had wasn’t quite strong enough. We faltered from Christmas onwards, which wasn’t very nice. Luckily we went up again the next year via the play-offs and stayed up. Looking back now I don’t know how we got there and stayed there, but they were great years for the club. It should be an example for smaller clubs to show what can be done.Â
What’s the best goal you have ever scored?
One for Brighton a couple of years ago against Southampton. We beat them 3-0 and I scored one from 30 yards, against my former manager Nigel Adkins. There is a bit of rivalry between the clubs too, so I enjoyed seeing that one nestle in the top corner!
Who is the toughest opponent you have faced in your career?
Charlie Adam at Blackpool. He had a great left foot on him, always managing to get a shot off and he had a lot of ability. I always had tough encounters with him.
Which team did you support as a boy?
Arsenal. I was born in London, so I’ve always been a Gooner!Â
Who was your boyhood hero?
Ian Wright, who had such a great goalscoring record and I was a striker when I was a youngster so I looked up to him with his movement and ability. I started playing in midfield when I got to about 18.Â
What’s the best stadium you have played at?
Apart from Wembley, I’d say Old Trafford. It was great to walk out there against Manchester United.
Who is the worst dressed player at Cheltenham Town?
Craig Braham-Barrett had some hideous gear on the other day, he looked like Michael Jackson with some leather trousers on, so he’s definitely up there!
Who is the biggest joker at Cheltenham Town?
There are a few. I get on well with Matt Richards and he’s always joking around, but so are some of the young lads like Joe Hanks and Wes Burns. Because of their age they are a bit giddy, but you can’t help laugh at some of the stuff they come out with.Â
Where will Cheltenham Town finish this season?
Above the relegation zone! I don’t care if it’s on goal difference, we just can’t get relegated. I definitely think we’ll be okay, but it’s going to be a tough remaining nine games to make sure we get the job done.
What career path do you think you’d have taken if you weren’t a footballer?
I honestly have never considered any other career. It was always football, so I don’t have a clue!
Who do you rate as the best player in the world in your position?
Andres Iniesta.
What is your favourite kind of food?
I love Italian: chicken, pasta dishes and spaghetti bolognese. I don’t mind the odd Chinese too.Â
What is your dream car?
There are a lot of nice ones around at the moment, but I’d probably pick a Maserati.
Who is your dream date?
Margot Robbie from Focus and The Wolf of Wall Street – she’s fantastic.
What is your nickname and why?
It’s ‘Spadge’. A coach once called me that and it’s stuck, but I have no idea why he called me that really!
What were your first impressions of Cheltenham?
I was impressed with the training ground, it’s a nice area and the fans were terrific against Tranmere for my debut. There are no bad eggs and we have good camaraderie so it’s been good all round.
Tea or coffee?
Definitely tea, I hate coffee!

Who knows! You never know what’s around the corner, but let’s just keep Cheltenham up and then discuss that in May.
