Chairman's message: Paul Baker on the manager, season tickets and John Finnigan

14 May 2015

Dear supporter,

I thought I would write and update you on what has been going on at our club in recent weeks, and I am delighted to say that there is a lot of really positive news to report.

GARY

Firstly of course was the appointment of manager Gary Johnson on a two year deal, a real coup in my opinion to secure the services of such a high calibre manager who has enjoyed tremendous success in his career, particularly with Yeovil Town and Bristol City. The appointment appears to have been very well received by supporters of the club, the local media, the players and the rest of the management team. By securing this appointment early on it ensures Gary has as much time as possible to recruit in the Summer as we look to bounce back at the first attempt.

RUSSELL

And I am sure that like me you are delighted that Russell Milton will be continuing in the role of assistant manager. Russell did a really important job last season bringing supporters back on board and unifying the club, he loves the club and gets on very well indeed with Gary, it is a really good and positive appointment and thoroughly earned.

SEASON TICKETS

We appreciate that relegation will have caused supporters real heartache but I have been reassured by how many fans, over 200, who have already renewed their season tickets and how many intend doing so, the common theme seems to be ‘we support Cheltenham Town, not the league in which they play’. We have set ourselves an awesome challenge – to sell 1000 season tickets by the start of the season, that is a huge challenge. Will you be one of them?

INCENTIVES

We have introduced a number of really exciting incentives to try and reach that target figure

If we reach that target one lucky season ticket holder, randomly drawn, will win £5000

If we sell 900 the prize will be £2500, if we reach 800 it will be £1000 – lets do it and sell 1000

We have introduced a further lucky draw in which 10 season ticket holders, randomly drawn,  will receive £100 cash – to enter we must have received your application by 2.00pm on Friday 22nd May.

We have re-introduced our Introduce a Friend’ promotion, as a season ticket holder you will receive £25 for every NEW season ticket holder that you introduce.

AND remember season tickets remain the very best way of supporting your club, they will always represent the very best value for money, they will also ensure you priority in getting tickets for big matches, and they also include a number of great discount vouchers in the bar, club shop and to bring a friend.

PLAYERS

Three exciting new signings have already been agreed – Jack Munns, Kyle Storer and Aaron Downes – more will follow. Keep up to date at www.ctfc.com

OTHER GOOD NEWS

Thanks to the 500 Club the main bar is to be completely re-furbished and some new equipment is being purchased to help improve the condition of the pitch, this is so important as Gary seeks to put together a team playing attractive and entertaining football. The pitch will look superb as we kick off the new season, the challenge is to keep it looking that way.

ENGAGEMENT

Clive Gowing has already made a significant contribution as the first fan elected Director. We can look forward to much greater fan engagement, more events, more activity and hopefully more volunteers getting involved – we desperately need more volunteers during the week and on match days – can you help?

JOHN FINNIGAN

I am delighted to report that John Finnigan, one of our most popular former players and our most successful club captains is joining the club as a Commercial Executive, he will have a key role to play on match days looking after our sponsors and in promoting and selling the club during the week. He will be joined by Julianne Staveley, a proven sales person. Both cannot wait to begin – they have a challenging budget to attain. Can you help by introducing a potential sponsor or can you do some sponsorship yourself?

This is the first of a series of regular newsletters from me, I hope you will find them informative, if there are any subjects you would like me to address in the next one please let me know, likewise please get in touch if you are able to volunteer or help sell some sponsorship or hospitality, and please do renew your season ticket or consider being a season ticket holder.

Thanks for your support,

Paul Baker
Chairman
