Loan move for goalkeeper Matt Gould

13 January 2015

Cheltenham Town's back-up goalkeeper Matt Gould has joined Bishop's Cleeve on loan.

Southern League Division One South and West club Cleeve were due to play Tiverton Town at home on Tuesday night, but the game has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Steve Cleal's Mitres side face Mangotsfield United at Kayte Lane on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Gould, who turned 21 last week, is yet to make his first team debut for the Robins since arriving in September.

He had been playing his football in New Zealand and Australia but he decided to move to England to pursue a football career after departing Hawke's Bay United.

He is the son of form Celtic goalkeeper Jonathan Gould and the grandson of former Cheltenham Town and Wimbledon manager Bobby Gould, who led the Dons to a 1988 FA Cup triumph.

Youth team number one Harry Reynolds, who was on the bench for last Saturday's match at Hartlepool United, will continue to deputise for first choice Trevor Carson while Gould is away on loan.
