Cheltenham Town chairman Paul Baker on the Tranmere comeback and he also pays tribute to the supporters.
Cheltenham Town chairman Paul Baker has described the weekend's 3-2 comeback win at Tranmere as 'the complete away day'.Paul was in the stand with the supporters at the weekend and watched on as his side went 2-0 down at half-time. What came next however left all the supporters, and Paul, in party mood. The Robins scored three goals in six minutes to take all three points and secure an away day to remember.
The Robins chairman often stands with the supporters during away games and he felt it was on the best away experiences he has had.
"For me it was the most complete away day experience we have had at Cheltenham Town," he said.
"We have had some fantastic ones. Rushden & Diamonds will sit long in the memory because of the nature of the comeback with two goals right at the end and obviously Burton because of the scoreline and the comeback.
"But in terms a of a complete performance from start to finish, I thought at Tranmere we were absolutely superb. How we were 2-0 down I don't know but I think it says an awful lot about the togetherness and spirit we have now at the club."
It certainly will be a game to remember but the fans also played their part on the day and frequently outsung a Tranmere support stunned by the comeback.
Everyone at the club has worked tirelessly to improve things both on and off the pitch but Paul was keen to pay tribute to the supporters who have really backed the team so far this season.
"One of the positives so far this season has been the fans," he said.
"They have been far more vocal and supportive of them team and I do think the two things feed off each other when the team is playing well and working hard. The fans then relate and engage with that."
