A look at Saturday's opponents
This Saturday sees us head down to Fratton Park for a 5.30pm kick off to take on Portsmouth in our final League Two game of the season.Pompey currently sit third in the table and have already secured promotion, but could still clinch the title if they beat us and both Plymouth and Doncaster fail to win their matches.
They have picked up 84 points from their 45 fixtures so far, having won 25, drawn 9 and lost 11, and go into the game in good form with just one loss from their last 10 games.
Pompey have a rich history and have played in the Premier League as recently as 2010, and have also won FA Cup twice - for the first time back in 1939 as well as not so long ago under Harry Redknapp in 2008.
They are now managed by former Sligo Rovers, Accrington Stanley and Chesterfield boss Paul Cook, who has been at the helm since the summer of 2015.
Cook guided them to the play offs last season, losing out in the semi finals to Plymouth, but has managed to get them into the top three this time around to ensure they’ll be playing League One football next campaign for the first time since the 2012/13 season.
Pompey’s current top scorer is Kal Naismith, who has 12 goals and has 6 assists to his name, with Gary Roberts and Carl Baker not too far behind him on 10 and 9 strikes respectively.
We recorded a 1-1 draw with the South Coast side when we played them in November at the LCI Rail Stadium as a late Michael Smith goal cancelled out Dan O’Shaughnessy’s opener.
Overall we’ve faced Portsmouth five times since our first meeting in 2013 and, incredibly, have drawn all of them.
