REPORT: Cheltenham Ladies lose out to West Ham Ladies

23 October 2016

Robins Ladies lose out

Cheltenham Town Ladies defied their recent league form to put in a very creditable performance as they narrowly lost 2-1 to West ham Ladies in the Women’s Premier League Plate.

Despite a good start from The Robins, it took just 14 minutes for West Ham to take the lead from the penalty spot.

It stayed that way until half time even though The Hammers had numerous opportunities to extend their lead.

After the break Cheltenham Ladies made a promising start as a header from Louise Fensome hit the post in the 46th minute.

Fensome wasn’t to be denied a goal though, and equalised with a thunderous strike into the top corner from just inside the box after 65 minutes.

But Cheltenham Ladies were to be left heartbroken as West Ham scored in the last minute to steal the win and put them through to the next round.

Graham Fletcher’s team return to league action next weekend when they entertain St Nicholas Ladies at Petersfield Park.
