U18's Go Top!

Cheltenham Town Academy U18's are top of the EFL Youth Alliance Southwest Division after a convincing 4-1 victory over Yeovil Town U18's at Seasons Training Ground.

A Joe Hance hat-trick and a stunning free kick from 30 yards by Jacob Nutting helped secure back to back wins as the young Robins dominated from start to finish.

Manager Ashleigh Hopkins included three players from the U16's in his squad with Miles Scott, Archie Brennan and Adam Hockey all getting minutes as his side ran out comfortable winners.

There was also an appearance for U15's star Grant Horton, who earned his second selection for the U18's this season after impressing in training.

"The more these lads are exposed to U18's football, the better they will be in the long term" said Hopkins.

Hopkins was also keen to praise second year scholar Josh Thomas, the U18's captain was not present at Seasons after he earned a place on the first team bench at Yeovil.

Thomas was selected after a stand out performance against Forest Green Rovers in the Gloucestershire Senior Cup last week.

"I'm very pleased for Josh, he played well at Forest Green and deserved his chance to travel with the first team" he said.

Cheltenham Town U18's are back in league action away at Portsmouth U18's in two weeks' time.
